Hip-hop Domain, is a collective project. Its goal is to provide hip-hop instrumentals to people that cannot afford to make their own, either because they do not have the skills to do so, or more simply because they have no way, material or money to do it. We provide these tracks "as is" under licences that allows almost any usage of it, the only rule is that you have to give credit to the original author if you use a track from the releases.

"It's better to teach people how to fish, rather than give them fish !" That is still true, but in our case, we simply cannot provide samplers, sequencers and inspiration to all concerned people. So we provide tracks that took us few time of composing with machines we allready own and gives virtually tons of hours of flow. We wish to spread these track all over the world toward countries and people that surely have no way of doing it themselves (for example Madagascar, Senegal, and yeah another country with some great lacks of money the United states...).

All artists involved in this project agree that they give up most of their intellectual property rights, in order for the rappers and singers to achieve their projects, even commercial projects under their respective names. But they also are all aware that if one can make his own music he should do so and leave these tracks for those who really need it. Moreover as all tracks are originals composed by independant musicians, it is sure that no authors rights are infringed, as opposed to many rap samples that are illegaly made from others records. If you find samples inside the songs, they are either from the public domain, or from people allowing that (by the mean of specific licences)

Of course you might find that these instrumentals are not as good as rap professionals ones, but hey, there will be many volumes, and hopefully many artists participating to this, so in time you should find music that suits you rap flavor...

You can find all the tracks on this site, in various format : mp3 for lightweight and modest internet connexions, wav format if you really want a lossless source for your project, and even disc image file, to burn your own CD copy of the tracks. In a first time the server might not be as fast as you wish but we make all this with our capacity, we all hope it will get better in time.

We will also try to send CD copies anywhere we feel it could fit, and as copying of these tracks is allowed and encouraged, we all hope that no one will encounter difficulties to find them. Be aware that for the moment no large CD pressing is scheduled, it will be time to time CDR burning for a start.

If you download tracks from the site or get it from a CD copy, be sure to find and carefully read the licence agreement that is bound to every track, it defines in details what you can do and what you must do if you use it, in a general way you can do everything and must only give credit to the original author (or more if you wish ;).
